These tasty little treats are nature's source of a special acid. It is called ellagic acid. While all berries contain this special formula there are some that have an abundance of it. The property of this compound is spectacular, it fights cancer.
For those of us who are somewhat medically educated we know that cancer has to do with cellular changes. Berries can change all that. There are two berries that contain the most of this healing property and they are strawberries and blackberries.
The acerola berry is not widely talked about or discussed. But to those who live in the Caribbean and Puerto Rico, they not only know of it they have an abundance of this little berry. It is said to be one of the most richest sources of vitamin C in the entire world. Vitamin C, as we all know helps build up our immune system and prevents serious illnesses like cancer and heart disease.
Foods That Heal: Dreadful Deficiency
There are so many deficiencies with everyday diets today, but not to worry, there are foods that can heal them. Deficiency does not come with swiftness as some may think. It is actually a long process that starts with children. If our children are used to only eating specific foods then this problem has already started. By the time they reach adulthood they may have a series of diseases as a direct result.
Foods such as milk, that contains vitamin D, citrus fruits that contain high sources of vitamin C, meats that contain iron, vegetables that contain a wealth of nutrients and so many others should be part of a daily regiment.
Foods That Heal: Immune System
Most of us already realize the function of our immune system. Its primary purpose is to defend our bodies from any elements that can do us harm or cause damage to our living structure. Vitamin C as we all know plays a major role in this defense mechanism. Antioxidants are another key player.
Beta carotene is one of the antioxidants that is absolutely mandatory. To keep your immune system up you need to consume foods high in these areas. Such as carrots, squash, spinach, citrus fruits, radishes, and broccoli.
Foods That Heal: Herbs for All Occasions
The primary use of herbs is to heal illnesses, prevent infections, relieve pain and discomfort among many, many others. Anyone who knows my work knows that I believe in natural healing, and herbs play a major part in that. Because there are so many that I can not possibly go into right now you can find various articles on this topic.
If you find herbs that will help you with whatever condition you may have you can make teas, and use them in your cooking. Healthy meals consist of many elements working together for one purpose. Besides just giving your foods flavor it can add to the medicinal quality.
