If you are a business professional of a major law firm, your business card should be more on the simple but elegant side. If you have a web-based business, your business card should be slightly whimsical or have graphics that represent on Internet business. You should also have your website address and email address listed on your business card. Your website address should be included in the logo, if you have one, for the most effective design.

There should be a brief summary of your business. This summary should be limited to a sentence or two. This can also include products or service that you provide. The design of your summary should be related to the overall design of your business card. Everything should compliment well.

Your contact information should also be relevant to your profession. If you work for a large office, you should make sure that you include an extension with your phone number. If you have an Internet business, you should also provide an Instant Message ID along with your email and website address. You should always list the primary contact method first, then any additional contact information. The first method of contact listed is what most people will use first.

In choosing the theme for your business card, remember it should be related to your profession. You have a huge variety of colors, fonts, and sizes to choose from. You also have a large amount of graphics that can be used. It is important that you don't get carried away with your designing. Your business card design should still have a professional look. You don't want people to think that your business card was designed by a child. The only exception to this rule is if your business is actually related to young children.

Your background color should be neutral. Your graphics should have a level of transparency if you plan on putting text over the top of it. Your logo should be small, but still large enough to be easily read. Your text should also be added with the same thought in mind; small but easy to read.
