Everyone for Perry

Lorraine Yapps Cohen
"It seems everyone is talking about Texas Gov. Rick Perry as a possible Republican presidential candidate," says the Wall Street Journal. I am one of those unnamed 'everyones,' having posted my own personal prompt for Perry as president.

I hope it's true, referring not only to Perry's possible run but also to the 'everyone.' It would be good if everyone had an eye on Perry for president. It would mean he could win not only the Republican nomination but also the highest office of the nation as well.

Talk of the town
The Wall Street Journal's observation tells me two things. First, it tells me that people are looking for an alternative to the choices at hand. They're looking for a leader to show a better way. They're looking for a change toward good instead of more bad for all. Second, that 'everyone is talking about Perry' tells me that lots of people are looking at Perry, perhaps liking what they see.

The WSJ joins the talk about Perry, becoming one more of those 'everyones.' Note the absence of a similar piece in the New York Times. And don't hold your breath to read it in the L.A. Times or Washington Post.

Good news for business
The Wall Street Journal reports business news. Perry's possible run would be a boon to business and good news for the Journal to report. Good news: What's that? We read only dire reports in the MSM (mainstream media) every day. Perry holds business and the economy in highest regard, unlike Obama who holds himself in those places.

Still to run
The Journal also recognizes Perry's political savvy about announcing. It stopped short of citing Perry as a shoo-in for the nomination. We know the MSM can carve a candidate to mincemeat before leaving the gate. Look what the left did to Palin.

Perry's political past shows he plays his cards to win. He's not tipping his hand, waiting perhaps for just the right moment to show the good one that it is.

Perry's priorities
One last paramount point about Perry. Some cite Texas's shortfalls rather than its successes, such as too few high school graduates, too little health insurance, too much capital punishment. To those folks I say putting food on the table and clothing the kids are much more important.

Texas is about having jobs. Texas is about promoting business to make for those jobs. Perry appeals to everyone with the right priorities in life.

I'm one of those 'everyones.' Are you?

I certainly am giving Mr. Perry a very close look. So far he looks like he could be the guy to bring the strongest challenge to President Obama.
