Everything That's Wrong with America in a Survey

This Floored Me

By now, unless you are living under a rock, you have heard that today in New York, a federal judge ruled that the U.S. Treasury is violating the law by failing to design and issue currency that is readily distinguishable to blind and visually impaired people. That's the story everyone is talking about. Here's the story within the story. BLEW me away.

CNN's website has an opinion poll that asks the question:

"Should dollar bills be printed so that blind people can tell the difference between denominations?"

First, let's forget the fact that CNN asked a stupid question whose obvious answer should be "OF COURSE". At least that's how I see it. What baffles me is the RESPONSE.

Of 74,071 respondents 22,079 of them, roughly 30% have answered the question as "NO". That's right. Thirty% of people smart enough to get online and to read CNN.com actually favor leaving money as it is rather than doing something to change the currency in a way that would positively effect the lives of MILLIONS of Americans.

Now... mind you, I know that the reason most said no, was because of the cost of changing our currency, but seriously.... "NO"?????? What sort of country has America become? Anyone else blown away by this? Selfishness, and inability to see past the cost of things to the humanity of them...everything that's wrong with America. At least that's how I see it.

The U.S. prints the only currency in the IMF that is both the same size and color, regardless of denomination

actually, it's not that surprising....30%..that's about the number that still supports Bush, and close to the 26% figure Liz reports...same population samples?

Two years ago in South Carolina there was an amendment on the ballot to legalize marriages between African Americans and white Americans. Approxiametly 26% voted against it!
