Everything's Top of the Line in Kansas City This Holiday Season

One Exciting Event taking place in Kansas City this Holiday Season is 50 Acres of U-Pick Pumpkins located in the North section of the city at Carolyn's Country Cousins Pumpkin Patch in Liberty Missouri. Admission to the Farm Fun Center is $6 for adults and free for children the age of 2 and below. The hours for this event are from 10am-7pm and it lasts through October 30. There is a petting farm, playground, trike track, and shops full of beautiful decorations and goodies. Also, there will be gem mining and duck races as well as pig races on the weekends! Another event coming up in Kansas City this holiday season is the 21st Annual Fairy Tale Forest taking place October 27-29 at Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary, 407 N. Lafrenz Rd., Liberty Mo. This event is designed to be non-scary and includes favorite storybook characters. There are fun live animals inside and world class exhibits. Children are also able to make crafts that are sure to be spooky and fun. Proceeds of this event benefit the Nature Sanctuary's educational program. Children are encouraged to wear costumes! The prices for this event are $6 for non members, $5 for members and children 2 and under have free admission.

Another event entitled Family Fun on the Square will be taking place October 28 on Lexington and Main. Trick or treating at participating stores as well as a Halloween parade with over 100 entries make this trip worthwhile. A Mystic Pumpkin Festival will also be taking place October 28 in the Englewood business district, Winner and Sterling Roads. Admission is free and the festivities include a window painting contest, carnival games, contests, storytellers, food, costume contests and an outdoor movie. The fun begins at 3pm and admission is FREE!

Another special event taking place November 2-4 at Independence Square, Main & Lexington Sts, Independence, Mo. Is the 2nd Annual Holiday Festival of Trees & Open House. November 3-December 31 will feature the theatrical production of Every Christmas Story Ever Told! At the Near Crown Center in American Heartland Theatre, Crown Center, 2450 Grand Blvd., in Kansas City, Mo. The play involves a retelling of all the traditional favorites like Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer, The Grinch, Charlie Brown and more. The Holiday Arts & Crafts Bazaar will take place November 4-5 at the Harney Gym, Cody Ave., Ft. Leavenworth. Admission is FREE and donations are accepted. The hours for this event are Saturday from 9-5pm and Sunday from 11-4pm. Please note that a picture ID is required upon entering the Fort.

Sleigh Rides with Santa are available in the Independence Squqre, Main & Lexington Sts., Independence, Mo from November 4-December 23. Laura Ingalls Wilder Christmas will also be taking place this holiday season in the National Frontier Trails Museum, 318 W Pacific Ave., Independence, MO. Guests will also be able to make cards and popcorn balls at the museum.

There will be a Veteren's Day Parade on November 11 at Downtown Leavenworth on Delaware Street. Admission is FREE and the parade begins at 10:30am. This is the oldest and largest Veteran's Day parade in the state of Kansas. For more information please call 913 727 3271.

A final exciting event taking place at the Harris-Kearney House on 4000 Baltimore Ave., Kansas City, Mo. Is the Holiday Candlelight Tour. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students. This is a great way to celebrate the holidays at Kansas City's Oldest Home!
