Evolution of Field Hockey

Hockey is an ancient game though not known with the same name but has its existence from several centuries. Some Evidence reveals that this was played four thousand years ago in Ethiopia. In Greece, there are evidenced as table-pictures that show young people playing field hockey. Places like Egypt Ireland, Rome, South America and Scotland have some records and evidence that reveal the history of hockey.

Eton College of England in the 1860s noted some rules, Followed by the formation of Hockey Association in 1875, more rules were introduced. Now, almost every country has a team and they compete not only in Olympics, but also in World Cup and Champion's Trophy as well. The grand Olympic Games, there are other annual occurring events in Hockey are: Azlan Shah Tournament, European tour, Australian Hockey League, Oceanic Cup, Australian Veterans Championship, and Men's Championships trophy are among few.
