In real life Tiffany was played by actress Sharon Wyatt (who also played on Passions). Yet, today her fans may not recognize her.
The 58 year old actress was diagnosed with osteoporosis and was put on one of the common drugs that is used to help treat this disease and help rebuild bone density (fosamax). While taking this drug, the actress had to undergo a root canal to her mouth. An infection set in her gums. Her gums wouldn't heal. This lead to the development of the disease osteonecrosis (dead bone disease) in her mouth. Half of her jaw bone had to be removed and in its place sits a titanium jaw plate.
The makers of Fosamx point out that many women safely take this drug, without any complications. They also point out that dead bone disease can be caused by poor dental hygiene, infection, etc.
Yet, Sharon doesn't believe what the makers of the drug are saying and has hired an attorney.
