Ex-husband of Terry McMillan Signs Book Deal for Fictionalized Tell-All
Jonathan Plummer Has Signed a Book Deal with Simon & Schuster
The book became a movie and the courtship between Plummer and McMillan turned serious. The couple married and stayed together for 6 ½ years, until McMillan filed for divorce from Plummer in January 2005.
Twenty-three years younger than McMillan, Plummer admitted he was gay and had not been faithful during his union to Terry. Now, 15 months since the couple's highly-publicized and scathing divorce - including a fascinating appearance on Oprah during which Plummer confirmed he was gay - Jonathan Plummer is ready to tell his side of the story in his own fictionalized account of their union.
Currently working as a hairstylist, Jonathan Plummer recently won a book deal with publishing giant Simon & Schuster for his upcoming no-holds-bar yet novelized account of his time spent with Terry McMillan.
Thrust into the public eye after legions of fans fell in love with her Waiting to Exhale book, Terry McMillan has enjoyed plenty of literary success that has seen some of her popular novels - international bestsellers -- make it to the big screen.
Yet her love life is quite another story. According to the Dallas Morning News, McMillan has told reporters she is afraid to leave her home, and fears how this divorce drama will play out.
"I just do not want to end up dead because no one did anything to stop him," Terry McMillan told San Francisco Chronicle columnists, reports Phillip Matier and Andrew Ross, who said their emotionally charged interview with McMillan ranged from rage to tears.
Matier and Ross also said they received several emails from the distraught McMillan.
McMillan has charged Plummer with trying to bilk funds out of her, while Plummer has reportedly threatened to make public embarrassing homophobic slurs he claims Terry left on his answering machine if she doesn't pay up.
"All this can go away, you know, if you just, you know, make an offer because I just thought I was treated bad ... poorly I guess with the settlement offer and ..." Jonathan Plummer said on a message on McMillan's answering machine. "I just thought, you know, it's just something for me to see if I can get back on my feet again because you know I'm struggling,'' Plummer said.

Post a CommentI'm likin' your blog, young lady!! Good job, even though I'm commenting on a 2 year old story. I still get pissed when I read how this jerk took advantage of Terry M. And she's so WORLDLY in every other way. I agree with DEBRA that this DOG WILL GET HIS DAY, but I'm not always the most patient person when it comes to things like that. . .
That was just down right deceitful! I know that inlove feeling and when that is destroyed you just give up. Especially a woman over 35, mainly because thats a time we want to slow down the pace and enjoy a peaceful life. The last thing we need is a liar and gold digger. It really makes you think of people's motives. Money destroys people but i cant even imagine having sex with a man, who is fantasizing about another man. I'd feel less than a lady. Or to have a man think his male lover looks hotter in a dress than his own wife. I still have to believe every dog shall have its day. Terry has to rise big time! you would have to kill me physically because as long as i have a mind and voice u cant take my spirit. A brotha destroying a sistah. And you question why we have a generation of angry black women. Its not always us.
Terry Mcmillan, no matter what, will always be loved and respected by her family, friends and fans. Her story has really brought to light how serious this "down-low" stuff really is and how it affects all ages, races and economic status. It is soooo scary. Whether you know them for long or not, you really don't know them. Look at the married men in politics that are coming out/getting busted!!! I hope Terry will not let one gay apple spoil the whole bunch. I'm hoping she finds true love.
Something does sound a little fishy about their courtship. I hope she is okay.
I saw the interview with this guy and Terry McMillian on Oprah. I saw it mostly because of her, cause I love her books. I read "How stella got her groove back" one summer. I thought this guy took advantage of her. I hope he just makes money on his own and leaves her alone. Great article. Bye
