I took off my shoes
And placed them just the right way.
When, for a brief moment, my back I turned
Little girls followed suit:
From me they had learned.
I did not plan this example to be
They just saw me do something
And, on their own, followed me.
It is from neatly placed shoes
I learned a lesson today:
That all things I do, as an example will stay.

This poem is dedicated to my daughter who teaches nursery children, ages 18 months to 3 years, at the church we attend. She shared the story and picture with me, and they are now the gentle reminder of the great influence we have on children.
May we all pay attention to all things we do and say, for children of all ages watch us and follow our example, whether we intend it, see it or not.

Post a CommentMy grandbabies did something similar. They were playing in the den while I was folding laundry, and I went to the kitchen to get them some Cheerios. When I came back, they had taken off their shirts and were trying to fold them the way I had been. Children are just too precious!
I loved this! It's amazing what children observe and learn so quickly isn't it.
With Love,
