Example

Elena dal Friuli
I was an example today:
I took off my shoes
And placed them just the right way.

When, for a brief moment, my back I turned
Little girls followed suit:
From me they had learned.

I did not plan this example to be
They just saw me do something
And, on their own, followed me.

It is from neatly placed shoes
I learned a lesson today:
That all things I do, as an example will stay.

I loved this! It's amazing what children observe and learn so quickly isn't it.
