Burien, WA 98166
United States of America
I discovered this lovely little restaurant (which on first sight you might mistake for an IHOP, it used to be one) shortly after moving back to the Burien area. I am a huge fan of Thai food and have eaten at many Thai restaurants in the metro Seattle area and Thai's Corner is hands down one of my favorites.
The staff is very friendly; always welcoming and being that they are frequently not crowded you can sit almost anywhere you like. The interior of the location is very nice, lots of gleaming dark wood, lovely colorful fabric hangings. However it's not so fancy that you might feel under-dressed walking in for lunch. For drivers, they have ample parking that is off street, for bus takers and pedestrians the restaurant is located very close to the Burien Transit center and easily accessible by bus or even on foot from many local residential areas.
Let's move on to the menu.
If you have a sweet tooth their Thai Tea is fantastic. Sweet creamy and very delicious, served icy cold and just right. They also have a nice selection of soft drinks, beers, wines and hot tea if you desire.
And the food, the food is delicious.
My personal favorites are the Phad Thai, the Panang Curry and my hands down all time favorite their rendition of Swimming Rama.
All dishes are available with varying degrees of spicness. I enjoy things five stars (or very very spicy) and the staff is excellent about remembering little things like that. Even though I am a fan of the ultra spicy I've had many of their dishes with no extra spice and they are always flavorful and very high quality.
All dishes are prepared fresh to order by their excellent cook who is also quite friendly. They use quality ingredients and vegetables. The staff often will also suggest dishes based on things you mention enjoying. Their Tum Yum soup is wonderful when you're stuffed up or have a cold.
As far as the dining experience goes the staff is attentive without being annoying or hovering. If you need to take some of your food home they will give you a box and if you need help put your food into the box for you. You can also call ahead and pick up your order to go. I've done this many times and the food is always piping hot, packed well (as in the packaging stood up to my partner and I walking home, also it can survive a bus ride), and they always make sure to give you cutlery or chopsticks and plenty of napkins.
I am not a person with a lot of extra money and Thai's Corner is highly affordable. My partner and I can eat for under thirty dollars and almost always have left overs for lunch the next day.
Here is the address:
14816 1st Avenue S, Burien, WA 98168
To get there via car from North of Burien travel Southbound on 509 and take the 148th street exit. Thai's Corner is a little hard to get into via car so go straight on 148th St SW through the light past Thai's Corner up to SW 4th Ave. On SW 4th Avenue take a left and at the next light, SW 150th St., make a left. Head down the hill back to First Avenue South, make a left and Thai's Corner will be about a block up on your right hand side.
Via Metro take any bus from your location to the Burien Transit center, walk out to SW 148th st and walk down to 1st Ave. South. Cross the street and Thai's Corner cuisine is right there on the corner.
