Brentwood's Hanabi Japan is a good choice for those who love Japanese dishes and flavorings in particular. They describe their dishes as "delicate, yet explosive with flavor." Their Master Chef, Tae Choi, has been making superb sushi for 23 years and the building houses a 15- seat sushi bar. There is plenty of room in the restaurant that has 88 seats. They're open Mon.-Fri., from 11-2 for lunch; dinners are served from Sun-Thur., 5-10 and Fri-Sat., 5-10:30. They have a Happy Hour for people to sample up to 15 different appetizers and rolls, along with drink specials from 5-5:30 daily. Fried specialties are their Katsu (deep fried items) and Tempura in an average price range of around $12. The Ochazuke takes rice and a vegetable or meat and combines it with a seasoned soup that sounds delicious. Hanabi has regular specials along with gift certificates and a newsletter that offers sign-ups some special deals too. hanabirestaurant@yahoo.com.

Located in the Bellevue Kroger Shopping Center, Tokyo Japanese Restaurant claims its share of fame in providing "authentic Japanese cuisine such as traditional and fusion Sushi, chicken, beef, shrimp or salmon Teriyaki, served with the freshest green salads and delectable soups" along with the typical steamed and fried rice. Thrown in are some Korean choices too. Mr. Jhon Lee is the master chef here. They serve sake, wine, beer and liquor also. Try their appetizers of fried items, like soft-shelled crab; dumplings; and plenty of unusual seafood dishes. The broiled fish, teriyakis, cutlets, hibachis and tempuras are only a smattering of an extensive entree menu. Also available are lunch boxes and lunch specials at $5.99 and $4.99. Take a definite look at the Korean Lunch Specials because they sound intriguing. It's open 7 days a week, and is serving up to 10:30 on Sat. and Sun. nights.

Jasmine's in Brentwood is reputed to be a little buried treasure hiding away "in A Cool Springs strip mall." The atmosphere inside is appealing, despite the unpretentions outside of the building and location. The reviewers on City Search rate this place very highly--of the total 7 reviews given, all rated the place very highly recommended. One said that this is THE only place to enjoy genuine Thai food. Some of the recommended Thai dishes are their Hung Ray and Massaman Curries. Pad Thai and Khao Soi were two other dinner items that were mentioned very favorably. There's no web site for the restaurant yet and I couldn't find a price mention anywhere, but the general comment that two could eat here for around $20. I think I'd give a call to check that out, though. More compliments have also been given about the excellent service, quiet music and general ambience.
