Throughout my study of the driver's manual I became familiar with the majority of the rules and regulations in connection with obtaining and keeping a Massachusetts class D learners permit and driver's license. I also studied the various penalties that follow after failure to comply with theses and other motor vehicle regulations. During my review of the driver's manual I was also able to gain knowledge about maintaining my own personal safety when driving, identifying various traffic signs and signals, and the rules of the road including the right of way rule.
Alongside my review of the driver's manual Rusty's also provided me with a workbook to examine. This workbook provided extremely detailed instructions about fully operating and maintaining the vehicle. These instructions included where to hold the steering wheel, how to make left turns, right turns etc. Also included in the workbook were the five keys in driving: aim high steering; getting the big picture; leaving yourself an out; keeping your eyes moving; and looking far ahead.
The videos used throughout the course at Rusty have well informed me of the danger involved in consuming alcohol and using prescription and non-prescription drugs while driving. Other videos opened my eyes to new dangers when using railroad crossings and when traveling in severe weather conditions.
Upon the completion of my in classroom instruction I was able to observe other student drivers on the road. This enabled me to observe the mistakes of others drivers, which in turn assisted me in correcting my own errors when driving. My driving lessons at Rusty have allowed me to demonstrate and put into practice the elements of driving I was taught inside of the classroom. My driving lessons were also an opportunity for me to rid myself of previously developed bad driving habits.
Overall I consider Rusty's Auto school to be one of the best in the Boston Area. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in making sure I learned how to be a great defensive driver.
