Excercises to Help Strengthen Your Eyes

Chad R. Herman
You eyes are your most valuable asset. Everything in the world of sight comes to you through your eyes. Not only do you see with your eyes, you also take in a number of things that you don't relalize you do. If you look through a cameraq lens, or try to take a picture with a camera and do nothing to the camera before hand, you look at the picture and realize it just didn't capture what you were looking at. Try to take a picture of a sea, or a sunset, or any myriad of landscapes and the pictures are just very lack luster compared to the awe inspiring moment. This is because our eyes have the amazin ability to zoom in, caqpture waht we are looking at, while at the same time capture the entire scene as well.

In this essence, we need to protect those peepers. Here are few exercises that will help you keep your eyes healthy, and may stop your eyes from getting worse than they already are. Not only that, if you stare at a computer screen all day; you need these more than anyone else. You are making your eyes near sighted because of the distance the computer is at. In addition to that, the direct light into your eyes are causing them to loose muscle ability....they need to go to the gym. This is just the gym for your eyes.

First, take a pen or a pencil, or even your finger. Hold this item at arms length and focus on it for about 15 to 20 seconds, Still keeping the item at arms length and in the same place, focus on an object across the room that does not give off light(I know everything gives off light, you know what I mean) for about 15 -20 seconds. Each time you come back tot he original object it's considered a set. Do about 3 of these sets every 3-4 hours if you're working on a computer, otherwise do it whenever you can think of.

The next exercise in our eye gym circuit is reading. But this is a different kind of reading, and will help all of you reading lovers out there. If you've been reading for a while, do this exercise to help your eyes. Take the book you're reading and hold it as close to your eyes as you can read so that you can still read the words. Continue reading as you are, pick a sentence to start with. As you read slowly move the book to arm length. As you are moving it, you should continue reading. Then once you get to arm length, bring the book back to as close as you can. Each out and in is a set. Do one set every 2 hours as you read. When you first try it, it will be very complicated and difficult, and your eyes may hurt afterwords. If they do, that's good. that means you need this exercise because your eyes are becoming fat and lazy.

Let's try some eye yoga. Begin by rolling your eyes completely around your socket. Now move your eyes so that you're looking completely left. Then all the way tot he right. Now move your eyes to the far diagonals: upper right, upper left, lower right, lower left. Notice how I phrased that, you don't want to stay on the same side to do both diagonals. Hold each look for five seconds. Then look up. look down, and the final stretch, cross your eyes. No matter how old you are this is fun. You have now exercise you eyes.
