A Limericked Crow on Nation's Cash Flow

Linda Ann Nickerson
The Wall Street wizards, or so they are called,
Should hop in the pot and themselves feel the scald.
For dragons in lair
May not give a care,
But into hot water they ought to be hauled.

Some say that the war should be blamed for our lot.
While candidates claim, "Wait! An answer we've got."
Through wedding or feud,
This bold attitude,
Feeds poison to public without second thought.

Does stump spell the right to claim easier times,
Ridiculous ideas and bold pantomimes?
No camera-sweet face,
Nor speeches, nor race
Wins voters as well as a couple more dimes.

The polls are deceiving; we're going berserk.
Economy's faltering past all guesswork.
Just guess who will pay.
Taxpayers? Hooray.
Perhaps politicians should get back to work.

This whole situation is giving me an ulcer. I'm pretty sure I can kiss the retirement plan I worked so hard for goodbye since I can't access it until I'm 73.

    Great writing!

Great writing Linda...but I have to disagree with Steven...it is not just Republicans. We have been headed toward this mess for a long, long time. This is pure greed, and that is something that has crossed party lines and reared its ugly head into the private sector. I just don't think that a 700 million dollar bail-out is the right solution. However, I haven't heard of any other reasonable solutions to alleviate the problem.

Very well expressed. We are bailing out the greedy established policies of the Bush administration. See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil but show me the money.

Kudos, Linda! You said it very well. (And entertainingly!)

I've been saying for a week that it's these "Wall Street Wizards" who should be asked to put the money they've made off with for years into clearing up this mess.

A political activist poet, I love it.

"But into hot water they ought to be hauled."...could not agree more...well done!
