History Channel's 2009 and 2010 Lineup

Christina Majaski
The History Channel, now just History, is quickly becoming the #1 non-fiction cable network and the go-to channel for all things history. The new upcoming series planned for 2009-2010 have been said to be "the network's most substantial programming investment ever". If you are a history buff or just enjoy the contemporary history shows that the History Channel is popular for, you'll be interested in the lineup for the upcoming series.

America: The Story of Us

America: The Story of Us is a 12 part series covering the growth of the United States from Jamestown to 9/11. This series will show how small and large events brought our country to where we are today. America: The Story of Us is produced by Nutopia, which is a production company started by the former President of the Discovery Channel, Jane Root.

Pawning History

Pawning History, produced by Leftfield Pictures, is a reality series about the life of three generations of owners of a Las Vegas pawn shop. Pawning History is 13 episodes of the only family owned pawn shop in Las Vegas and follows how the men run the business, assess the value of merchandise. Probably equally entertaining will be the customers that bring the items to the pawn shop and their stories as well.

Madhouse (working title)

This History series is about drivers at a racetrack in Winston-Salem, NC and has been called the "Hatfields & McCoys on hot asphalt." Local drivers redesign and rebuild custom cars to compete family against family at races on Saturday nights. Madhouse is 13 episodes and produced by Triage Entertainment.

MysteryQuest

History Channel is no stranger to series shows about unexplained phenomena. MysteryQuest is a ten episode series that will follow as modern science is used to come up with answers to the unexplained in such places as the Bermuda triangle, through examining historical evidence, eyewitness accounts and using expert analysis in search of answers.

Nostradamus Effect

There have been many Nostradamus series on History Channel and it will be interesting to see how Nostradamus Effect will be different. History has aired a number of apocalyptic and prophetic shows but this one is supposed to be about connecting current events to particular prophecies of Nostradamus and others. This History series is 12 episodes by Workaholic Productions.

WWII in HD

WWII in HD uses HD technology to restore hours of archival footage of World War II that has never been seen by most Americans. WWII in HD will also include unpublished diaries, journals and interviews. This is a 10 part series produced by Lou Reda Productions.

As usual, the History Channel will have something different and interesting for everyone. Check your local cable guide for these new series.
