Exciting Valentine's Day Outings in Boulder City, Nevada

Drew Bush
Well, Christmas and New Year's are behind us. To some, this means that the next few months will be cold, uneventful and just plain dull. But wait, it doesn't have to be like that. We still have a few days to look forward to even though the winter blues have settled in. One of those days is none other than Valentine's Day!

Do you have a special someone in your life? If so, it is now time to start thinking about what you are going to do for that special someone on Valentine's Day. If you plan on being in or near Boulder City, Nevada, on Valentine's Day (perhaps on your way to Las Vegas), there are many wonderful things to do. Stop by Boulder City to see what it has to offer.

Clean Green Boulder City, Nevada

Boulder City has some of the nicest restaurants and views around Southern Nevada. Downtown Boulder City is located just minutes from Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, Nevada. Boulder City is known as Clean Green Boulder City because the air is clean and there are numerous beautifully landscaped parks.

Parks:

If you live in or near Boulder City, drive down to one of the parks and walk around and enjoy the beautiful mountain views. You can even have a picnic. Two well known parks in Boulder City are Veterans Memorial Park located on Buchanan Blvd and Veterans Memorial Drive and Hemingway Park on the northern side of the town near a beautiful mountain range.

Veterans Memorial Park:

Veterans Memorial Park is large and overlooks the beautiful Eldorado Valley to the southwest. There are a number of walking trails and a freshwater man-made lake. It would be a great place for couples to go to enjoy a quiet walk and even a picnic. It is located at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Drive and Buchanan Blvd.

Hemingway Park:

The park is quite small, but it is located in a beautiful location. At the border of the park is a mountain range known as the River Mountains. They are quite beautiful. If you are lucky, you may see some mountain bighorn ship grazing on the field of grass in the park. It is a great place for couples to have a quiet and relaxing picnic. There is even a charming gazebo. Hemingway Park is located about a mile northeast of downtown Boulder City on Ville Dr. Just take Highway 93 northeast of Boulder City toward Lake Mead and make a right onto Ville Drive.

Restaurants:

Boulder City, Nevada has some wonderful restaurants whose food is sure to make your mouth water. You and your significant other can enjoy a wonderful Valentines Day breakfast, lunch, or dinner at one of Boulder City's finest downtown restaurants.

Tony's Pizza:

Tony's is a wonderful restaurant. I have gone there several times since I have lived in Boulder City. In addition to the great tasting pizza, there is a menu full of homemade hot and cold sandwiches, attractive pasta dishes, and more. Couples have a choice of eating on the outside patio looking over the beautiful downtown landscape or inside the rusting looking building. Tony's Pizza is located on 546 Nevada Highway. Call (702) 294-0023 for any questions.

Hacienda Steakhouse:

The Hacienda Steakhouse is located inside the Hacienda Hotel/Casino about five to ten minutes outside of downtown Boulder City. I have eaten there once and I was very impressed with the atmosphere and the food. It really does have a lot of elegance. The menu has a lot of great food choices including seafood, salads, steaks, prime rib, and more. The restaurant has wonderful lighting and decoration. It really is a great place for a romantic Valentines Day dinner. The Hotel/Casino is located on Highway 93 just 10 minutes northeast of Boulder City. Cruises on Lake Mead:

Lake Mead Cruises offers a cruise across Lake Mead on the beautiful Desert Princess. I was on the Desert Princess for my high school graduation and I was very impressed with the setup. There are elegant and roomy dining rooms, numerous open decks where you can view the mountain and lake views from the top of the vessel, state-of-the-art studio systems, and refreshment centers. Since the sky is so open can view beautiful sunsets and have the wind go through your hair. It really is an enjoyable experience. You will even be able to view Hoover Dam!

Couples can have a relaxing and charming sightseeing cruise on the Desert Princess starting at 10 a.m. Dinner and Brunch Cruises are not available until April 1st. A midday cruise costs $24.00 per person (adults). Now is the time to book a cruise for Valentines Day. Visit www.lakemeadcruises.com for more information and to book your cruise.

If you are on your way to Las Vegas or Lake Mead, Nevada on Valentines Day, consider stopping by Boulder City. It is only 5 minutes from Lake Mead and 20 minutes from Las Vegas. Have a great Valentines Day!
