Flip's Twisted World
Releasing on September 7th is Flip's Twisted World. It's a puzzle/platformer in the same mode as Super Mario Galaxy. Flip is a wizard's apprentice who gets trapped in another world where down and up are just perspective. Walls can change in corridors or paths by moving the Wii remote. Flip can collect magical tools to help him through the five worlds. The levels include a jungle, castle, and caves. Players can also unlock costumes. It's rated E10+.
Donkey Kong Country Returns
It's been over a decade since Donkey Kong graced the N64. The original Super Nintendo games are classics. Nintendo fans have talked about an update since the Wii was released. The demo featured at E3 shows Donkey and Diddy Kong collecting bananas, riding on mine carts, and blasting out of barrels. The game will be a 2D side scrolling platformer like the older ones. The Wii remote's motion control is used to make DK roll or ground pound. Players can not switch back and forth between Donkey Kong and Diddy like in previous games. Instead, there a single player and a co-op two player mode. It releases this autumn.
GoldenEye 007
In 1997, the original GoldenEye for the N64 was released to great acclaim. This Christmas, the First Person Shooter is back in an updated version starring Daniel Craig's voice and likeness. The environments in the game are completely destructible. Players can not stay in one place for too long. Health kits are gone and replaced by regenerative health meters. Unlike other Wii shooting games, GoldenEye isn't an on-rail shooter. Players can walk and explore anywhere on the map. There is multiplayer modes and plenty of James Bond characters to use in them. Also, players can pick from the Wii remote and nunchuk or the Classic controller to use. GoldenEye 007 will release in November.
Kirby Epic Yarn
Kirby has been featured in other video games such as Super Smash Bros Brawl, but hasn't starred in his own platforming console game in years. In Epic Yarn, he's made of yarn and the environments are fabric. Kirby doesn't eat enemies, but can whip them. He can also manipulate the environment by cutting off ribbons in the fabric textured backgrounds to reveal secrets. While some might say this isn't old school Kirby, he still has plenty of special abilities. Kirby can change into almost anything including anvils, cars, or tanks. There is co-op two player mode. The second player will be a character named Prince Fluff. It will be released in November.
Conduit 2
Conduit 2 uses the Wii Motion Plus for better control. In the game, players must stop an alien invasion with up to 25 new weapons, like the mobile turret. Besides the single player mode, there is also co-op modes, and multiplayer. Levels in the game include Atlantis, Siberia, and Washington D.C. The cover system is improved over the original. Players have the ability to flip over objects like table to duck behind. The game will be released in autumn.
Don't forget about Epic Mickey, either. I featured it here. Christmas is certainly going to be a great time to be a Wii owner. Nintendo is playing heavy on nostalgia this year. By releasing exclusive games fans have been looking forward to for years and brand new ones, there will be something for everyone.
