I was fortunate enough to have an appointment with a stylist named Allie, a gorgeous and quirky woman with fabulous tattoos. I'll be honest- I was looking to hide some grey hair that had started creeping through (I blame it on my fibromyalgia, which I've talked about in other articles I've written), and I'd already informed Allie ahead of time I wanted RED. She told me she had great ideas for me, and when I arrived she gave me the lowdown. She did highlights of three different reds (a dark, medium, and light) around my face, and then an all-over coppery red. As a bonus, before my color I got to see a blond coloring job she had done- and it was utterly natural looking. I could not tell that she had done any color work at all! It was incredible. Then, while I was "cooking" I had the opportunity to watch her dye another person a very rich, mink-brown, and that turned out fabulously, too.
It turned out fabulously. Easily the best coloring job I've ever had, and the best thing? I've now had the color for two days and it's already stopped running in the shower. That has never happened, and I am super impressed. I blame the 'sealant' she put on my hair- and I am, I repeat, so impressed.
While I was there, I observed the stylist who has the chair next to Allie doing a cut, and she did a fantastic job, and was very personable and friendly. She also did a color, which I noted turned out very well. Sadly, I did not get to observe the other stylists, but I have faith that they are exemplary as well. Certainly, they were all so welcoming, and that is something I have not experienced at other high end salons.
Finally, after my color had taken, Allie cut my hair, and she did that just as well as she had done my color! She layered my curl, adding enough bounce that I have perfect waves and lightness in the back, and practically have spiral curls in the front! It's fantastic. This is easily the best haircut I've ever gotten, too.
The best part? I don't feel like I paid through the nose for it all.
Now, granted, this isn't a Sam's Cut, or the Renegade Barber shop, where you'll be able to pay $12 or $20 for a haircut. But as far as good salons go? I feel like I got a deal.
If you are looking for an expert colorist in Tallahassee, call Exclusive's and ask for Allie. If you're looking for a good Salon, you can't go wrong there. Their phone # is 224-Hair (4247). Call them today!
