Execution is Stayed for Thomas Arthur
Another Inmate, Bobby Ray Gilbert, Says, 'I Murdered Him'
Arthur has maintained his innocence all along and had asked that DNA testing be performed to prove his innocence. Arthur was denied the DNA testing and was given an execution date instead. Arthur was scheduled for execution on Dec. 6, 2007, but was granted a stay of execution at that time while the Supreme Court was ruling if lethal injection was cruel and inhumane.
Gilbert claims he was hired by Judy Wicker to kill her husband for a fee of $2,000. In an affidavit he claims he had a sexual relationship with Judy Wicker when he was just 17 years old. Wicker claimed her husband was abusive and she hired Gilbert to murder him. Dressed in an afro wig and dark face makeup, Gilbert alleges he went to the house and while Troy Wicker was in bed, he "shot him in the face" at close range.
Gilbert has been incarcerated in Alabama prisons for most of his life for crimes of murder, escape, and assaults. In an interview with Gilbert, he speaks about his life in prison and his time spent in solitary confinement.

After doing everything in my power to make BRG for the last two months, I finally dummied up and cut him of. I wish I would have heeded the warnings I had read about him before I wrote him. But no, I bought into the fantasy...and he manipulated me into the palm of his hand and literally squeezed the $money$ and happiness out of me. Ladies, this Snake has his game down so tight, you seriously won't even know what hit you. He has been manipulating virtually hundreds of women since that show aired however many years ago. He is not even capable of displaying any human-like qualities or being real. He is a Snake, nothing more. Ladies I am warning you, he will get the best of you. he is the absolute master at his game.
