Exercise DVDs for Kids: Getting Healthy the Fun Way

Everyone knows that daily exercising does wonders for children. It improves their physical as well as mental health. It helps kids to be more outgoing and raises self-esteem. It is even thought to aid in concentration and improve performance in school. But does getting your kids to work out wear you out? Would they rather be on the couch than exercising? Thankfully, there are numerous programs on today's market that are geared toward exercising for kids. If outdoor exercise isn't possible, check out these workout DVD's to get your kids up and moving. Most can be found for less than $20 at your local department store.

1. Billy Blanks: Tae Bo Kicks--You've probably seen (and maybe done) the Tae Bo kickboxing video for adults. This one, made specifically for kids, incorporates many of the same moves that made the adult version so popular. Combining martial arts, boxing and dance with music and fun, this is sure to be a hit with your kids.

2. Move 'N Groove Kids--This is a workout geared toward a younger audience (ages 2-7). Dancing and exercise combined with learning give your kids a workout in body as well as mind.

3. Coach Coz and Kid Crew--This exercise DVD is geared toward kids ages 3-5. It combines funny dance instruction with songs from the '70s and '80s. It was featured in Parenting Magazine and is the winner of a Parents' Choice Approved Award. Your kids are sure to dance and laugh their way to better fitness with this great DVD.

4. JammX Kids--Can't Dance Don't Want To--Your kids will hip hop thier way to better fitness with this great DVD. A group of nine kids use music and moves to get your kids on their feet and learning hip hop. Not only can your kids exercise to the program, they can take the dance moves with them to use later. This is a prime example of fun fitness that may just lead to a new hobby!

5. 65 Energy Blasts--This program, geared toward ages 5-10, goes great with a busy lifestyle. It consists of 65 dances that are very simple to learn. The dances are only one minute, fifteen seconds long, so kids can do one at a time or as many as they wish. There are four dance themes in the program: Hip Hop, Latin, African and Athletic, providing kids with a wide range of multicultural dance experiences.
