Exercise for a Good Night's Sleep

One essential contributing factor to getting a good night sleep is the amount of exercise that you engage in during the day. When you are very active in the day, you have a better chance for relaxing and falling asleep quickly. This means a good night's sleep.

When you exercise on a regular basis, the quality of sleep and your ability to get a good night sleep is significantly greater than when you do not exercise regularly. Committing to exercise often helps to alleviate stress, and this too contributes to your ability to get a good night sleep. Studies show that there is a direct link between how much we exercise and how we feel later.

It is wise to try and increase the amount of exercise or physical activity that you engage in during the day. The purpose here is to provide your body with enough stimulation within the day so that you do not have a body with a whole lot of energy at night. This means a good night sleep for you.

Keep in mind that for best practice, do not exercise 3 or 4 hours prior to retiring in the evening. The best time to exercise and to help you get a good night sleep is early evening or late afternoon. This will give you enough time to use up your energy and thus have a good night sleep.

When planning your schedule, you should try to make time to exercise 3 or 4 times during the week. Exercising can be something as simple as taking a stroll around the neighborhood for 20 to 30 minutes. Appending a regular exercise routine into your schedule will not only aid in having a good night sleep, it will contribute to your overall health as well.

You will find a wide variety of physical activities to engage in. Whatever you choose, regular physical activity can help you get a good night sleep. Many people enjoy exercise routines that are very light and easy to perform no matter how physically fit you are. Such light exercise routines include Yoga and Tai Chi. Both of this have been known to have powerful effects on a person's physical and mental state of well-being. A stable and relax mind significantly increases your ability to have a good night sleep.

Even if you feel that your life is too busy to add a regular exercise routine, you can still subtly engage in a physical activity that equates to exercise. You can park far away from the entrance of your job, so you get a little walk everyday. You can take the stairs instead of the elevator. You can get very creative about adding physical activity into your daily life. Just remember that consistent exercise means a healthier lifestyle and a good night sleep.
