If you are a Montrealer who is trying to recover from depression, you know all too well how hard it can be. Depression is not something that can just be willed away. Staying alone and isolating yourself only makes the depression worse. Reaching out for support is important, whether it be to family or friends; or if you have severe depression, you must seek therapy to help you through these trying times.

Here are some of tips to help you through your depression and onto a better life.

Researcher have long known that the mind and body work together, when one is ill the other one generally is not performing at its best.

Depression is a mood, but this psychological issue can also go hand and hand with what is happening with the body.

Exercise is a great way to improve your mood well as well as your overall health. Exercising releases endorphins in the brain that are often called natural mood enhancers.

Jogging is a good exercise, but you don't have to do that. Just getting out for a good walk will make you feel better. You can walk with a family member or friend and have a pleasant social experience. In time you can increase your activity levels. It will help you relax, have a better night's sleep, and put you in a better mood.

Here are some centers in Montreal for the treatment of depression

The Montreal Center for Anxiety and Depression
Montreal Clinic for Therapy Services

Interested individuals can seek hospital services and outpatient clinics around the city

Wow! Seems as though we think alike! Thanks for affirming what I felt myself. It is just good to have an educated person like you to affirm these things! I always feel so much better after exercise even if I have to push myself!!! Thanks!

Yeah, it does... I can't walk much anymore due to nerve pain. I use my exercise bike though. I struggle with it daily.
