Exercising Your Imagination: Part 1

There's Power in Your Imagination

Kurt Evans
Have you ever exercised your imagination? What I mean by this is, have you ever gone someplace in your head? Not with your physical body but, with just your mind?

I am about to take you on the most fascinating tour of your entire life. What is required of me? You might ask. Well, I will tell you.

All that you have to do is be able to make pictures in your head. You have to be able to concentrate and focus all of your attention on the image that you have in your head.

You might be thinking, what on Earth can I possibly imagine? See, this is where we exercise the imagination so that eventually it will be in your conscious control, no longer being subjected to your subconscious fears and worries.

This is about taking control of your thoughts and the images that you have in your head. Let's start out by imagining a white room. In this white room, you have the power with your thoughts to place anything you want inside it. Let's start with simplicity, since we're just starting out.

Imagine, a white table in the middle of this room. It can be in whatever style you prefer; wood, medal, or whatever you like it to be. On this table, there is a white plastic bowl; a rather large one too. In this bowl, there's a bunch of yellow bananas, some green bananas and some oranges. I want you to take one of the yellow bananas and just start to peel it as if you were going to eat it.

Take special notice of how the banana feels as you peel back the skin. Notice that the aroma of the banana becomes more sweet and just the thought of it, makes your mouth salivate and you lick your lips at the mere thought of taking a delectable bite of it.

Now, imagine that you take a bite of that banana. Notice the flavor and how it tastes in your mouth. Notice the texture of the banana and how it feels in your mouth as you chew it. Notice how it almost turns into a liquid when you swallow it.

Now, I want you to set down the banana peel of the banana that you just ate, and set it on the white table.

I want you too look into the plastic white bowl and find other fruit. Pull out one of those ripe oranges and put it under your nose. I want you to sniff it and savor the aroma. Be in the moment and just imagine what it tastes like. Mmmm, delicious!

Now I want you to start to stick your fingers into the orange and start to peel it. As you peel the orange, notice how it feels. Does the whiteness beneath the orange color feel kind of starchy? Notice that the aroma of the orange comes more alive as you peel it. You can feel the juices of the orange as it slowly drips out of where it was punctured. You notice that it's kind of sticky.

The more you handle the orange, the stickier you get.

Now that you have the orange completely peeled, notice how it feels. Smell the aroma of the orange in the air. Go ahead and peel off a slice of the orange and put it on the tip of your tongue. Savor the flavor and take in all of the delectable juices. Feel the orange slowly slither down your throat and into your tummy.

This concludes today's imagination lesson.
