Exfoliate Your Skin to Perfection

It's not a well known fact that one of the best things you can do to ensure radiant, healthy, younger looking skin is to exfoliate regularly. Most of us know that exfoliating once in a while feels great on the skin as well as cleanses deep into the pores, but to receive the maximum benefits from exfoliation, it is actually recommended to use this cleansing method several times a week, if not every day.

Exfoliating your skin on a regular basis, removes the layers of dead skin cells that accumulates regularly on the surface of your skin. Your skin naturally exfoliates itself which results in layers of skin cells laying on the surface of your skin, that are not always visible to the naked eye. These dead cells lead to dry looking, ashen skin, as well as can clog pores causing break-outs and overactive sebum production. When you exfoliate, these cells come off leaving your skin smoother, and less prone to acne.

Making exfoliation a part of your regular beauty regimen can also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines since it aids your skin's natural shedding process that occurs in the top layers of your skin. When you use a facial or body scrub to exfoliate you normally will apply it in a circular motion and this in itself helps to invigorate, and in essence, "wake-up" your skin and increase circulation to it. Increasing circulation to your skin will lead to a more glowing and healthy appearance as well as ensure that your skin's collagen production does not wane.

The type of product that you choose to use for your exfoliation is really up to your personal preference and skin type. There is a wide variety of wonderful facial and body scrubs available on the market. Some are sugar based, others are salt based or made up of crushed nutshells and seeds. They all work in the same way, which is to remove excess dead skin cells.

If you have particularly sensitive skin, a scrub that is made with smaller granules, such as a sugar scrub may work best for you. If your skin is very oily and courser, then a larger grained scrub would work well, such as an apricot seed scrub. For dryer skin, you may want to look for a scrub that contains moisture beads that break open onto your skin while you scrub it. This type of scrub not only exfoliates but nourishes dry skin leaving it silky smooth.

For healthier, younger looking skin, don't stop at regular washing. Add a skin exfoliating scrub to your cleansing routine on a daily or multiple-time-per-week basis and your skin will remain smooth, deep cleaned, and more youthful without needing a trip to a esthetician or cosmetic surgeon.
