If you are feeling the stress of the financial crisis, and want to take a break and not empty your wallet, then maybe a visit to Asia is perfect for you. The choices are literally endless!
If you want to visit a predominantly English speaking country which is warm towards Americans, and is home to some of the best beaches in the world, then maybe a visit to the Philippines, a former Spanish and American colony may be an option. From the rice terraces in Banaue, to the white sands of Boracay and Palawan, or maybe to the private beaches of Amanpulo where some of the high profile Hollywood Celebrities have stayed, there is always something to do for you.
But if you want to stray even farther from your comfort zone, then maybe a visit to Vietnam would be to your liking. A visit to the Cu Chi tunnels would be an eye opener for you. You could also savor the mouth watering Vietnamese cuisine,
One of the number one tourist destinations in Asia is of course, Cambodia, more specifically, Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples are a testament to Asian Civilization and culture. The carvings are delicate and ornate. Just hearing the work it took to drag the large stones to where they stand now is awe inspiring. The people are warm and friendly and the hawkers sell lots of things shouting "wan dola, only, wan dola" (US$1), from caps, to toys, to shirts. The best part is you don't even have to change your U.S. dollars into the local currency since they accept U.S. dollars directly, a similar practice followed in Vietnam.
A trip to Thailand is also an adventure. If you want to visit a lot of Buddhist temples and enjoy beaches and shopping, Thailand is a nice place to visit. The roads connecting provinces are impressive as the highways stretch for miles on end. Orange robed monks are a sight to see, and the floating village is also nice to visit. When in Thailand take a private tour with your own tour guide and a road trip to different provinces. Depending on your tastes, there are a lot of places to see and visit, and you can see more in this manner.
These are just some suggestions on places to visit in Asia, do some research on the Internet as to where you would like to go. There are so many choices, and so little time to visit them all, so why don't you start now?
