Exotic Pets: the Kinkajou

Linda Louise Johnson
This honey bear

is not a bear

no, he's a cute little kinkajou.

Tail like a monkey

size of a cat

he's a raccoon's cousin it's true

He's a rainforest furball

loves fruit and warmth

that soft and snuggly kinkajou,

with big brown eyes

and fast little feet

that go back and forward too.

He chirps and whistles

and barks and hoots

that noisy, chatty kinkajou.

But only at night

cause he sleeps all day

He's nocturnal, thought you knew.

Keep in mind

he could live to be 23

long lives the kinkajou!

P.S.
Check it out locally
to see if he is legal
or the health folks will get after you.

And don't wake him up
he might just bite,
that drowsy kinkajou.

A cute little pet kinkajou can be long lived, docile and sweet. Unless you try to wake him up for lunch. There's a reason he is called "the nightwalker."

Cute poem, with fair warnings included! Did they used to sell these in pet stores and call them Sugar Bears?
