The Speedway on Woodward just south of Maple is looking to clean up its appearance. The Birmingham Planning Commission has asked Speedway to make a few changes to their plan to fall in line with Birmingham ordinances, and they are expected to do so.

Included in the plans are the addition of gas station TVs, which are the monitors many stations feature above their pumps. Also, the entire building will be repainted and all the signage on the site will be changed. The Planning Commission requested that Speedway also add a landscaped island on the north end of the building between the employee parking spots and the building.

Representatives from Speedway informed the Planning Commission that the vendor of the monitors will be paying for trees that will be planted along Forest Avenue on the building's north side. The Planning Commission also asked the representatives to consider doing something about the glaring light, which apparently can distract drivers on Woodward, and they agreed to look into modifications.
