Expectation - a Poem

Alledria Hurt
The strength to stand.
To stand in your face and met your eyes,
My audience.
Those who look at me and expect.
You expect.
It is on your faces,
Caught in a million glittering eyes.
I shiver.
Shake.
Fear to crumble under the weight,
the weight of your expectation.

Yet my words are not yours.
They defy you to expect things from me.
They give me the strength to stand.
To compose.
To create.
To visit the cloud kingdom of conception.
To dance in the presence of God.
All so much more than your expectation.

Greater than the throat sticking fear
Seeking to silence this,
composition of my cranium.
My words give me the strength to stand
And
They expect that of me.
