Most movies that have hit theaters this summer have been sequels, and it seems as though more will be coming in June as well. The first is the popular comic based "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" which will glide into movie theaters on June 15th. All of our favorite characters will return, such as the Invisible Woman, Mr. Fantastic, The Thing, and the always comical Human Torch. This time around our heroes will face a wedding, the Silver Surfer, and the vengeful Dr. Doom, and the movie is looking like a great sequel to the "Fantastic Four" franchise.
Another great movie to check out in June is "Transformers" which will stomp into theaters on June 20th. The movie is based upon the highly popular 1980's anime which centered around the raging war between the Autobots and the Decepticons. Due to the huge fan base of the anime and the great advertising for the movie, I am really expecting "Transformers" to do well at the box office.
The second sequel to come out in June is the action packed movie "Live Free or Die Hard". Once again, McClane must take down the bad guys, a group of Internet terrorists, who threaten the stability of the United States economy. The movie looks as though it will be full of car crashes, explosions, gun fights, and everything else that seems to make up a "Die Hard" movie. "Live Free or Die Hard" crashes into theaters June 27th.
Once again, the Hogwarts' students return for the fifth time in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" which flies into theaters on July 11th. The movie is based upon the very popular novel by J. K. Rowling and continues with the "Harry Potter" saga. In this film, however, Harry and friends decide to train for battle against the hated Voldermort in order to ultimately destroy him. Be sure to check this movie out, especially if your a fan of the "Harry Potter" books.
The last on this list is the always hilarious "The Simpsons Movie". As many of you know, this film is based upon the very comical cartoon that centers around the lives of Homer, Bart, Marge, Lisa, and Maggie. The movie appears to keep the same comical aspect of the cartoon while also adding a few refreshing elements. If you enjoy the cartoon, be sure to see "The Simpsons Movie" which slams into theaters on July 27th.
With all the movies coming out this year, I'm pretty sure everyone should be able to find something that peaks their interest. But, if I had to bet on which would most likely do the best at the box office, I would bet on "Transformers", The movie isn't a sequel, but it still seems to appeal to a mass audience whether it be children or adults. Now that you know my pick, what will you go see this summer?
