When you start to plan your guest room, imagine that it is a grand hotel and what you would consider to have in it. The first step is a comfortable bed and fresh, clean linens. If you do not have a spare bed than you can invest in an air mattress which are affordable and comfy. The next step is to add a little excitement to the bed linens by throwing in some extra pillows. You have the clean linens but the next thing to consider is if something was to happen. The third tip is to make sure you have an extra set of clean linens in the room. Let your guests know that you're pleased they're with you by leaving a small gift in their bedroom to welcome them.

The fourth step is to include a schedule of meals for the time your guests will be there and a loose schedule of events that are planned on the wall of the room. The fifth decorating tip is to include a couple of extra chairs and stools for your guests to place their suitcases and set while they unpack. Remember when decorating the less in the room the better. The guests do not want to have to push aside all your knick knacks, figurines, or dolls in order to find a place for their stuff. The sixth step is to clear out all the items that are not useful to make way for your guests to have a comfortable stay. Things that would be important in the room would be a clock, calendar, and phone book.

A quality guest room also needs to have proper lighting for your company. The seventh step would be to make sure there are lamps that are accessible next to the bed for your guests as well as a few candles and such. Many individuals read before going to sleep and this would be hard to do without the proper lighting. The eighth decorating tip would be to include some entertainment for your guests to enjoy before getting up or going to sleep. This could be a small television, head set, radio, books, puzzles, or anything you know your guest would enjoy. Every person needs their down time after a long day.

The ninth decorating tip is to make sure your guest has plenty of drawer and closet space for their clothes and belongs. This might mean you would have to clean out some space before your guests arrive. The tenth and final step for decorating your guest room for your Christmas guests is to insure privacy. The windows should have a nice blind or window coverings so your guest can have privacy as well as control the light that they wish to receive in their room. If you use all the following decorating tips when preparing your guest room than your holiday guests should be very pleased.
