Experience the Anti-aging Benefits of Raw Food

5 Great Reasons to Live a Rawist Lifestyle

Lyn Vaccaro
When it comes to all of the various things that I've been able experience since making my diet 80% raw, nothing stands out more to me than the uncanny way this stuff turns back the clock. I've experienced so many things from lasting strong fertility, to better looking skin, great lipid panel values, more energy to keep up with the 8 kids I have, to little to no menopausal symptoms, and the list goes on. I thought I would "zoom in" so to speak on a few anti-aging aspects of living this way because they are surely worth taking the time to spell out for everyone. Hopefully anyone reading this will have a clearer picture of just how fantastic your life can become after making these changes and feeling the fabulous anti-aging affects it has.

Fertility Extension- This is the reason I began this journey and I'm sure not sorry! After turning 40 and experiencing 5 consecutive miscarriages I turned to God and His food for the help I sought. I did not turn up disappointed. After the better part of a year on this stuff I was able to have a successful pregnancy and welcomed my 1st baby boy to our family of 6 girls!! Such an awesome feeling....I'll never forget it! Raw food gave me that boy! So, I kept eating it and eureka! Became pregnant a year and a half later with my second boy!! Wow, nothing was gonna take me away from this diet now! I still have regular ovulations and menstrual cycles and am ready to welcome another. Some call me crazy, but it doesn't bother me. I've never been happier!

More Vibrant Skin- Something my husband and I noticed is the change in my skin since eating this way. As I aged into my later 30's I began to get those awful liver spots that can show up. I've always found them to be more aging and rather unsightly. After some time eating raw, I noticed that a few of them had disappeared completely and some others were becoming lighter in shade! I had asked a friend that's a nutritionist why that would happen. He informed me that cleansing the liver assists the skin to repair better and therefore some of those types of things can resolve. Getting rid of those has taken some years off of my face, and my husband has commented on it as well. I'll never complain about looking better to my husband! Turning back the clock on your face could never be a bad thing, especially if you are able to do it naturally without chemical peels or surgery!

Weight Loss- Eating this way has contributed to a weight loss of 18 lbs for me, fitting me back into my size 10 jeans and clothes of my past! I really can't say what a great feeling this is! Not to mention how many more options I have when I go shopping. I'm really not a big shopping fan, but since this weight loss I really enjoy it more. I can justify doing it more as well. Usually I would find every reason not to go because there's always plenty to do at my house to keep me from it, but now I enjoy shopping excursions with my teenagers and find myself enjoying the experience! Not to mention weight loss is another great way to shave the years off of you. So often people look so much younger after a weight loss.

More Energy- I'm sure you can imagine the energy it takes to keep up with a family this size! Theres always a ton to do as well as places to be. I find I don't have any trouble doing that anymore since losing the weight and just feeding my body better, more high quality food. I stay up later than anyone in my house, and am the first one up as well. I do need a break in the afternoon, but I really feel enough energy to take me through whatever craziness I'm involved in. I actually do longer exercise sessions daily than I did in my 30's, usually between 50-60 minutes daily. In my 30's I would generally exercise 30 minutes daily. It's so great to have a lengthier workout and find that I'm better able to keep up with it now, than in my younger years.

Rare Menopausal Symptoms- This is something I noticed more of just as I was turning 40. Since becoming mostly a rawist, I have little to no menopausal symptoms, and I'm 46. About the only thing I notice is a shorter luteal phase in my monthly cycle. Premenopaual symptoms are a rarity for the most part and I surely don't miss them! Much of that is due to the phytoestrogen content within the plants. I think alot of women would be so impressed by this great side effect they would never stop eating this way once they gave it a chance.

When it comes to how you should implement raw food into your diet there are many ways in which to accomplish it. I am a juicer. I juice a couple times daily to get the amount of raw food I'm looking for. It's a easy quick way to get the benefits of eating raw in the shortest amount of time. That's why I love juicing so much. Time is something I'm always short of at my house so this fits right in. If you have the time and don't mind chopping the veggies and fruits to eat in that way that's a great choice as well.

Sprouting nuts and seeds are always another great way to reap the raw food benefits. They are a fantastic source of living enzymes. My favorites are garbanzo, lentil and sunflower sprouts. They're very filling, satisfying and are fun to grow. There are many directions for doing it over the internet and if you have kids they'll love getting involved. You can also find some great recipes for raw foods on various websites. Some of them are very informative and helpful in getting people started on their raw food journey.

Make sure you give this lifestyle enough time to do it's magic. It takes a couple of months to start seeing and feeling the benefits of it. Don't let that discourage you. In time you'll start feeling the way you were meant to feel and it will all come together for you. This lifestyle may take some getting used to but after you experience the health benefits of it and feel the quality of your daily life improving, you'll never look back! There's just no substitute for waking up each day and feeling great! I know I'll never be sorry for taking this path, and I know noone else would be either if enough time was given to living this way.
