Experience Natural Stress Relief

Yvonne M. Glasgow, Ph.D.
I, just like many other people out there, have not had a lack of stressful experiences in my life. Just day to day life can give a person handfuls of stress and then along comes some major problem and your whole system is fried. And they say "when it rains, it pours," so when one thing goes wrong a domino effect seems to begin and soon enough your laying on the ground wondering what knocked you down.

Stress is defined, according to Dictionary.com, as "physical, mental, or emotional strain or tension." In other words, stress can come from anywhere or anything and cause all sorts of problems for you and your body, both physically and mentally, and it can even effect the people around you, friends, family and strangers alike. Stress does not just effect your mind and brain but it also does a toll on your organs and other things on the inside of your body. Even the outside is not safe, stress helps us get wrinkles, lose hair and can even help with giving you some lovely bags under your eyes. Stress can also cause weight gain, strokes and even worse medical issues.

I have tried numerous ways to lessen the effects of the stresses in my life (because there really is no way for anyone to actually live a totally stress free life, no matter how wonderful that fairytale may sound). Although I have tried many thing I have not totally stopped stressing over the small stuff, but I have found ways to deal with it better. I have found that some of the best ways to ease stress are through wholeness, encompassing your entire mind, body and soul into the treatment of this debilitating disease. Only through treating your entire being can you get the best results from your therapy.

Some of the best whole body ways I have found to relieve stress are; prayer, positive thinking, meditation, visualization, herbal remedies, aromatherapy, nutrition, fitness, crystal therapy, color therapy, Reiki, massage, Acupressure, hypnosis, pet therapy, and art therapy. These therapies can help you in a Metaphysical, body encompassing, way that does not include any medications or invasive treatments, just nature and a little bit of hope, belief and faith. With faith we can achieve anything.
