Looking for an enchanting day in the woods with your family and loved ones but don't want to end up exhausted? Do your kids complain that a hike in the woods seems to never end? If so, then visit Jacobsburg Park, just minutes from Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania.

Upon arriving at the state park, you will immediately notice the cleanliness and tranquility of the land around you, even though the parking lot may be bursting at the seams. But don't let that put a damper on your day because Jacobsburg is large enough for all visitors to escape into their own wilderness adventure. Just take a couple steps onto the trail and you'll feel the stress of the city quickly slip away.

Jacobsburg State Park (http://www.stateparks.com/jacobsburg.html) offers a variety of trails where you determine your own path to nature! Make your hike as short (or long if you're feeling adventurous) as you like with the unique trail system. I've visited this park many times with my family and pets so there's no need to worry if you aren't a regular mountain man. The state park is very easy to navigate with signs conveniently placed at trail intersections. With only a mild incline in the most "difficult'" portion of the climb, even your youngest (ages 3 and up) can take pleasure in climbing their very first 'mountain' (in their eyes).

Jacobsburg is also a wonderful place to take your dogs for fresh air and rewarding exercise. If your pup is sick of being cramped in an apartment and relishes a jaunt into nature, they will leave the park with tongues wagging and dreams of chasing the woodland creatures. On those extremely hot and humid days, you may want to dip your toes, or paws, in the serene and shallow stream that runs through the park and sustains the luscious green foliage. The sounds of trickling water are more than enough to tempt your playful side.

As noted on their Web site, Jacobsburg offers "environmental education programs from the pre-school environmental awareness programs to high school level environmental problem solving programs, historical programs, teacher workshops and public interpretive programs." If a hike is not enough to satisfy your nature cravings, then delve deep into one of the education programs.

So take a hike and experience the simply please of nature. It has never been so close, so easy to get away for a few hours, or so memorable!
