Places to see
Old Town
Much of a day out in Prague can be spent in the Old Town. The Astronomical Clock is the main attraction in this part of the city. At the top of every hour, tourists flock towards it to hear the chimes and watch the mechanical figures in action. You can then take a walk around Old Town Square and visit the trendy cafes and restaurants for a snack, or get lost inside the quirky gift shops. The most common thing you will see in the souvenir shops is puppets. They hang from the walls and ceilings, and come in many designs. If puppets scare you, it can get a little bit creepy after a while! However, there are plenty of other shops with more traditional souvenirs inside.
Charles Bridge
One of the most stunning sights in Prague is that of the Charles Bridge. It is a magnificent display of architecture, proudly displaying statues of notable figures along its sides. As you cross the bridge, you will see many talented local artists displaying their work. You can have a caricature drawn up, buy handmade goods, or simply listen to musicians entertaining the crowds.
John Lennon's Wall
If you're a lover of music, symbolism and graffiti, a visit to John Lennon's Wall is a must. Before 1989, Lennon's music was banned because his lyrics about freedom didn't sit well with Communist authorities. After his death, someone painted a portrait of him on the wall. This prompted those who felt suppressed to vent their feelings by scrawling their thoughts alongside the portrait. Although the authorities kept painting over it, the messages kept on coming. The wall was eventually bought by the Knights of the Maltese Cross who allow the wall to remain as a tribute. If you have the time to spare, reading some of the messages of peace and hope is actually very moving. Don't forget to take a pen with you so you can leave your own mark!
Places to eat and drink
Pizzeria Donna
When I was in Prague, most of my meals were eaten at Pizzeria Donna. It provides convenient, well cooked food in a very Italian looking restaurant. Pizza is not the only food on the menu, they also serve pasta, and numerous meat dishes too. The staff, while not fluent in English, know how to say "please" and "thank you" which goes a long way in a city where customer service is not always of the highest standard.

Icon Hotel
Even if you aren't staying in the luxury that is the Icon Hotel, you should definitely take a trip there to eat at their restaurant. The food probably isn't the cheapest in Prague, but the quality is superb and the service is second to none. After you have eaten, you can take your drinks and spend some time in the trendy lounge to unwind after your meal.

Tavern Brabant
For a unique dining experience, you must try the underground restaurant, Tavern Brabant. Granted, you can barely see the food in front of you because it's so dark, but it certainly tastes good! On Friday and Saturday nights, you can enhance your visit even further by joining in with an authentic feast with entertainers in medieval costume.

A visit to Prague is magical at any time, but don't forget to check out the events calendar before you travel! Festivals, markets and concerts are held all year round, so make sure you don't miss out on something special.
