SciWorks is one of the best family attractions in the piedmont triad. Located on Hanes Mill Road near the Highway 52 interchange, it is easily accessible and great for large groups as well as family outings. For one low admission price, you can explore 25,000 square feet of exhibits, see a laser show or view the planets in the planetarium, take a break in the vending area or at a picnic table, and then explore the fifteen acre outdoor environmental park.

Adult admission is $10, $8 for seniors and youth ages 6-19, $6 for children ages 2-5, and free for children younger than two years old. Individual and family memberships are also available for purchase and then you can visit all year for no additional cost and receive a 10 % discount on purchases from the gift shop. As a SciWorks member, you also receive discounted or free admission to many additional science centers worldwide. Group rates are also available, so call ahead at 336-767-6730 or visit the website www.sciworks.org for more information.

From time to time, new exhibits or galleries are featured, and certain exhibits are mainstays to the center. Favorites include the environmental park which is home to donkeys, goats, cows, sheep, deer, river otters, ducks, geese and a miniature horse. Stroll the nature trails and see the animals up close. Observe as they are fed, groomed or relax in their habitats. Inside the museum, visit and explore interactive exhibits in KidWorks, HealthWorks, PhysicsWorks and more. In Mountains to the Seas, you can learn about flora, animals, and terrain of North Carolina. Check out mounted or stuffed animals from around the world in the extensive collection of bears, tigers, lions, birds and more. SoundsWorks features a keyboard you can step out a tune on, as well as a stringless harp and other instruments.

SciWorks also features rental spaces for workshops, conferences, parties, receptions and special events. The museum is host to several different summer camps each year.
