Experiences in Selling Comic Books

Jacob Malewitz
Selling comic books on Ebay is something I have a wide range of experience in. I also have many experiences in buying them.

Ebay is the prime place for buying and selling comic books. Amazon is a good resource for guides, and the occasional discount, but the simple fact is Ebay can make you more money if you choose to sell comic books.

What tips do I have? Having earned thousands of dollars just by buying and selling comic books, I have many. A foreword to this would be that, not all sellers experience a high income on Ebay, especially in selling comic books, but I've seen many people profiting from selling them.

I have regrets for selling certain of my series. I love the comic medium and because of this I have thousands of comics. I sometimes wish I hadn't sold my favorite series on Ebay.

There can be a lot of work involved in selling comic books on Ebay. Research is needed in selling comic books, as you will want to watch and see, as prices fluctuate, when to buy and sell. If you have a mint condition Nightwing #1, or a rare variant cover of a Punisher comic, first check out the prices on it, then do some other research online. Try to sell the books when they will be most popular. One tip would be to watch for comic books with good reviews, as noted on the internet or Wizard Magazine. A good review will lead to popularity. More important is to check the prices on Ebay. If you purchased the comic for half of what it is selling for on Ebay, then you would want to sell. It can be like selling stocks, research is needed as well as setting a goal and sticking to it.

Investing in comics can turn a profit. A good place to find steals is at comic conventions, though you have to be the early bird and get into the convention as fast as possible. You're not the only one trying to make money in this field.

What do you need to sell comic books on Ebay? Perhaps the most important thing to have is a camera, but you also want to build yourself up as a reputable seller. Buy a few things early and pay promptly. Always make sure you get feedback on these items. As soon as you have a feedback of ten or more, all positives, then you're ready to sell. The first items you want to sell should be smaller priced items as, even with a few good feedbacks, people won't bid as much on items worth in the hundreds or the thousands.

Instead of going out of your way to buy ten number one issues of a new comic, invest in a Golden Age or Silver Age comic (Anything published prior to 1980 is good).

That's a few tips I've learned from selling comics on Ebay, and my experiences in this field.
