Expert Forensic Psychiatrist Predicts Baby Gabriel Johnson Dead; Great-Granddad Believes Otherwise

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona. - Expert forensic psychiatrist Dr. Stephen Pitt reluctantly told CBS5 affiliate KPHO, "I hope I'm wrong... but I will be shocked if this child shows up alive." Dr. Pitt first made it clear that he has not studied the evidence in the case of missing baby Gabriel Johnson and that his information is limited to news media reports. He does however have the experiential as well as professional knowledge to discuss the Baby Gabriel case. Dr. Pitt worked intimately on the JonBenet Ramsey murder and Columbine High School massacre cases.

"You're talking about worst case scenario 'child is dead'; best case scenario 'No, I didn't kill my child, I gave it away.' Either one of those would indicate a seriously twisted individual," said Dr. Pitt regarding Elizabeth Johnson, the jailed mother of missing Baby Gabriel. He stated that parents in family courts across the U.S. use their children as pawns but Johnson with her murder message 'takes using a child as a pawn to a whole other level'. The forensic psychiatrist is referring to the text message in which Johnson says she murdered Gabriel- Johnson sent the message to Gabriel's father Logan McQueary on December 27 2009, the day when Baby Gabriel went missing.

Dr. Pitt says that Baby Gabriel could still be alive but three factors defy the possibility: 1. the length of time for which Baby Gabriel has been missing; 2. the pending landfill search for Baby Gabriel's body; 3. the non-cooperation of the mother with police. And, according to the statistics provided by KPHO, the odds are low- although women constitute only 15% of the persons who perpetrate violent crimes in the U.S, women constitute 50% of the parents who murder their children. Johnson may join that statistic.

However, according to Elizabeth Johnson's grandfather, Bob Johnson- Baby Gabriel's great-granddad, his granddaughter doesn't seem worried that she might be charged with homicide- which she can be even if no body is found. After visiting his granddaughter in jail on January 14, Bob Johnson told The Arizona Republic, "At this point, it's common sense that the longer something like this drags out, the worse it looks for the victim, in this case Gabriel. But I don't think she would have harmed the child, let alone killed him, and have the attitude she has."

Bob Johnson said his granddaughter believes that the two worst felonies of the four she was charged with- kidnapping and child abuse- won't be dropped or at least reduced even if Baby Gabriel is found alive. "I tell her the easiest way for her to get out of here, the fastest way for her to get out, is to tell them where Gabriel is at. The quicker he shows up alive, the quicker you can get out of here," said Bob Johnson.

A Gabriel Johnson trust account is set up.

It is possible that whomever has this baby loves it and will never give it up isn't it? Yet the way the mother Elizabeth Johnson carried on telling her husband: "You made me do it" over and over does suggest she did do it. It also shows how morally messed up she is which is my new term for mental illness.

Let's hope he's wrong, but it certainly doesn't look good for anyone...

I certainly hope he's wrong too. Thanks for the update.

I hope the man's wrong too. Never never never should a child be used as a pawn. Hopefully, someday, the courts can create special enhanced sentencing when a parent harms their own.

Most of share the forensic psychiatrist's predictions. Hopefully (beyond?) we are proved inaccurate...

In my gut, I feel Gabriel is no longer alive; in my heart, I pray that I am wrong.

    Sad, sad story!

Sad, indeed. The statistics are not looking good.
