Exploration of the Overused Statement "All Religions Are True"

One thing that some philosophical individuals often say that throws people, mostly christians, for a loop is, "all religions are true." Most people can't figure this one out. If one religion says it's the only true religion, how can any other religion be true? The statement is a bit truncated, actually. What I think it really means is, "all religions have some truth."

There is an ultimate Source of all things. Most religions agree on this point, and I, for one, will hold that it is True. For clarity's sake, I will refer to this as "The Source" from now on. The Source, as I see it, is All there is, nothing is above it, nothing below and nothing to the sides. The Source is Good. The Source is Evil. The Source is neutral, male, female, hermaphrodite, asexual, bisexual, homosexual, heterosexual, non-sexual, light, dark, dusk, dawn, etc. The Source is beyond all comprehension. So, forget trying to understand it. Actually, try to understand it - the attempt will occupy your time for a long while.

The Gods and Goddesses are aspects of The Source. They are the way we interact with the Source. So, yes, the god Jehovah created a couple people, destroyed a few billion and died on a cross. That doesn't mean Odin didn't hang upside down on the world tree and give the Runes to the Vikings. Christians may even wind up kneeling before Jehovah singing praises to him forever and ever, but that doesn't mean that a good pagan won't be lounging around in the Upper-world until they decide to wander a bit again. There may even be a place in the Underworld roped off to be Hell, where all bad christians will burn in torment forever, but that doesn't mean someone won't take a good nap in the peaceful Underworld and think about what they screwed up on while living, then go back and try to do better. Then again, none of it means that some won't just poof out of existence and be nothing more than worm food (or fish food, etc. depending on circumstances).

Most believe in an infinite God. If there is such an infinite power, there are infinite possibilities. You may say, "Truth is Truth! A green piece of paper cannot be anything but a green piece of paper!" False. A green piece of paper is nothing but a dark piece of paper to a colorblind person and nothing more than a snack to a goat. People try too often to put human limitations on Deity, trying to limit The Source. They're only looking at one piece, one aspect of The Source. And that is fine! No one can see the whole thing. I have beliefs about things that may be what I will experience, but what someone else will not. Experience is subjective and so is Religion. All religions are True.

The only thing that is important is to be secure in your faith. Do that which is right, and allow for other's mistakes as well as your own. It is fine to argue beliefs on an "in my opinion" level, but do not force your opinion on others. Do not tell them they are wrong and berate their beliefs. For all anyone knows, you could be the one who is wrong. The only thing one has the right to do is to relate their beliefs and to practice those beliefs in peace.

I completely agree with this. One thing I can't stand is someone who thinks their religion is The One. I gave you five stars.
