When one arrives at the park, the first thing one can notice is the huge snake. A fake one, of course. It is a large snake (apparently big enough for kids to get on!) that's supposed to be slithering as if it was going somewhere.
But this has park has more to offer than a huge snake. I know that families will love this park! They have a small pond flocked with ducks. I often see many families feeding the birds or playing with their dog in the large areas of grass. The park has at least two playgrounds for kids, and a restroom with a drinking fountain near them. (There used to be another playground, but it has been closed for a while. There has been to news whether the other playground will be permanently remained closed) But the picnic area, as mentioned, is enormous and shaded with large trees. It is definitely a place to celebrate the Fourth of July.
If you get a chance to walk on the trails, you will encounter "Queen Califia's Magical Circle". It's an enormous sculpture made by Nikki de Saint Phalle who was a well known French artist. This work of art consists of a maze-like environment (with mirror-like pieces used for the wall) which leads you to a center. The center has a large sculpture of a bird-like animal. On the bottom of the bird, there is a large gap enough for a little kid to crawl in and out. Surrounding the majestic- looking bird are more sculptures of snakes. It's a fun environment to be in and well kept too!
Apart from the art and nature of the park, there are also many places to get into shape. Along with it's long peaceful trail, the park has a sports area. The indoor sports area is a place for hockey games are played and the outdoor part of it is a skateboard skating rink. If you're not satisfied with skating, there are also many fields that host softball, baseball, and soccer games. These fields are well-lit and its parking spaces are big enough for everyone to come.
The park also has other things: a tennis court, a small stream, and an amphitheatre just to name a few. It is located in a tranquil neighborhood, even though it has the Escondido North County Fair Mall as its neighbor.
It's a quiet, relaxing park where both pets and people will love!
