Start the day by purchasing a CityPASS at the Space Needle. The CityPASS booklet contains tickts that will allow two admissions withinn a 24 hour period. From on top the Space Needle, one can get a 360 degree view of Seattle along with a bird's eye view of Mt. Rainer and the Cascade Mountains.
Children will want to spend a good chunk of time exploring the Pacific Science Center.'s interactive exhibits including the live butterfly garden. A 2D or 3D IMAX® film is included in the price of admission. Also, CityPASS holders can get reduced pirces on the Morphis Movieride Adventure Motion Simulator, Evening Laser Shows the Planetarium or Laser Matinee, and reduced admission on special exhibits that require an additional fee.
The neighboring Experience Music Project|Science Fiction Museum tend to be a bit hyped up with a limited number of actual artifacts. Chidlren who are Sci-fi fans or wish to test their air guitar skills on an actual stage may enjoy walking through these exhibits. Otherwise, consider skipping this event and then spending the next day at the Museum of Flight. This museum which is located a bit further south in Seattle offers a uique collection of 85 aircraft including the supersonic Concorde and the first jet Air Force One.
Then trek down to the Seattle Aquarium located on the waterfront for a full interactive immersive experience. Here children can touch and feel some underwater creatures and participate in other similuated expereinces. In particular, be sure not to miss the popular feeding times and training demonstrations.
Afterward, enjoy a one hour cruise on board the Argosy (http://www.argosycruises.com). Check out the website for daily departure times so can plan the day accordingly. On a sunny day be sure to get a seat outside but see the sights from inside on a cloudy day. While CityPASS holders can upgrade to another tour such as the dining cruises or the Tillicum Village salmon bake for an additional fee, these adventures are geared more for adults.
Then cap the day off with a night time visit to the Space Needle to see the city light up in lights.
The pass also offers admission to the Woodland Park Zoo, located in the northern section of Seattle. Time permitting, families may want to venture into the Green Lake area and explore this somewhat antiquated zoo. Antique Carousel rides and giraffe feedings are an extra fee.
