Exploring Superstitions, in an Acrostic Poem

Happy Halloween!

Langley Cornwell
Are you superstitious?

Scared to walk
Under ladders for fear of breaking the triangle.
Purposely avoiding the neighbor's black cat,
Especially if a full moon hangs in the sky.
Resisting the urge to
Step on a crack, even if you're mad at your mother.
Taking pains not to spill any salt, but
If you do, throwing a pinch over your left shoulder.
Tap, tap, tapping on wood
In case you need an extra dose of good luck.
Only using plastic mirrors and
Never, never, never living on the 13th floor.

Have a happy and safe Halloween.

I enjoyed your piece, but I am not supersticious. Every deed, word backed by noble intentions will never come to harm or haunt us - siva

Hey, I just love black cats, but I do not want to live on the 13th floor, too high. Cute poem!

This is great. Very creative! Personally I'm not superstitious. I don't believe in good luck or bad luck either. Bad luck is just an excuse when things go wrong and we don't want to blame someone - especially ourselves for the choices we've made.

You are right, some superstitions just stick with us, even against all logic.

I was faced with some scaffolding ladders yesterday, and was forced into walking under 'em. Silly how superstitions affect even sane people!

I, too, believe or practice some superstitions
