1. In Outlook Express, on the toolbar, click on "Tools" menu and on "accounts..."
2. Select the account to export and click "Export"
3. Enter the filename (e.g. My mail account) and save the file.
Click OK.
You can export multiple accounts, if necessary then repeat the operation for each.
Section I-Contacts
1. Open Outlook Express
2. File -> Export and choose Address Book.
3. Open the export tool. Select the "Text File (Comma Separated Values) and click on" Export "
4. Enter the filename (e.g. my contacts) and save the file depending on your configuration (from one PC to another external-support-or on the same PC).
By default the file is in Csv format.
Click OK.
5. Back on the export window click on "Next".
6. The "export csv" opens with a list of parameters to check on the contacts. Check the fields you want. Be sure to enter all fields correctly and select all the fields.
Click "Finish".
7. Close the Export Wizard. In explorer, you should find the file that we just saved.
Section II-messages.
1. Also in Outlook Express, click on "Tools" and then "Options".
Select the tab "Maintenance" and click on "Store Folder".
2. A window titled "Storage location" opens.
Copy the folder.
3. Open Windows Explorer and use "search". Choose search "all files and folders." In the input fields, paste the folder that has just been copied.
4. Select the folder named "Outlook Express". Copy and paste it into another location. (For example, in the same folder used to store contacts and accounts so that everything is grouped at the time of importation).
NB:
We must ensure that sub-folders in the file "Outlook Express" are not read only by right-clicking each folder and "Properties".
Import into Windows Mail
Open Windows Mail by the start menu.
Right-click on the program and in the context menu, choose "Run as administrator".
Account settings
1. On the toolbar of Windows Mail, click on "Tools" then "Accounts..."
In the window "Internet accounts", click "Import".
2. Select the file format. Click "Open".
3. The "Internet Accounts" appears and contains the newly imported files.
Repeat this for each account.
Section I-Contacts
1. Click on "file" then "import" and select "Windows contacts"
2. The window of importing contacts will open. Choose "CSV (Comma Separated Values)" and click "import".
3. Click on "browse" and retrieve the backup file format ".Csv" which was previously created and click "Next".
4. In this area, select the fields you wish to import. Some are checked by default. If you want to check others, click "edit mapping and check import this field and click OK.
5. Tick every field you want checked, click "finish".
6. A confirmation window will appear. Click on "close".
Section II-Messages
1. In the Windows Mail menu bar, click "file" and then "import" and select "messages"
2. Choose "Microsoft Outlook Express 6" and click on "Next ".
3. In the Import window, select "Import mail from Outlook Express 6" and click OK
4. Retrieve the exported file, select it and click on "Select a folder"
5. In the Import window, the file path will appear. Click "Next"
6. Select the folders you want or choose "all files" and click "Next".
7. The import confirmation will appear. Click "Finish".
8. Back in Windows Mail, a new folder named "imports" will be created, including sub-folders that were previously selected (which can moved by drag and dropping).
And that's it! All your settings and contacts will now be in Windows Live mail! Safe and secure on Microsoft's servers.

Post a CommentExactly, I've been mislead too. I needed to export contacts from my Outlook 2010, not O Express. Fortunately, I've found a good free tool I recomm to others, who somehow get here and don't find an answer about exporting contacts from MS Outlook.
