Express Yourself!!!

Lindzi Bel
In a situation like this, becoming a public speaker does not matter, however, everyone should have a slight bit of complete control of their selves, a bit self-centered, and a bit of self-posed so that we can get up in front of any audience no matter how large or small, and express our thoughts clearly and distinctly.

Self-expression in any manner is the only means of developing mental power. It may be in music, it could be on canvas, it may come through writing a book. Either way it must come through self-expression.

Self-expression in any legitimate forms tends to call out what is in us, out resourcefulness, inventiveness, but no other form of self-expression develops us so thoroughly and so effectively, and quick to unfold all of its powers, as expression before an audience.

Nothing else will call us out so quickly and so effectively as the constant effort to do our best before an audience. It is doubtful whether anyone can reach the standard of culture without studying the art of expression. In all ages oratory had been regarded as being the highest expression of human achievement. In conversation we don't feel that so much depends upon our words, only the few people that hear them.

Anyone who lays any claim to culture, should train themselves to think on their feet, in order a a moments notice to rise and express themselves intelligently. The occasions for little speaking are increasingly enormously. A great many questions which used to be asked in the work place are not being discussed over supper.

We all know people who has by the grit of hard work and persistent and yet they are into positions of prominence and yet they are still not able to stand on their two feet in public. Even if it is to make a few remarks or barely put a motion without trembling. We all had plenty of opportunities when we were young and in school to get rid of our self=consciousness and acquire ease and facility in public speaking, but always shrank from the opportunities simply because they thought that someone else could do a better job.

There are plenty of people today that would give a great deal of money just to be able to go back and improve their earlier opportunities for learning to think and speak on their feet which they threw away. Now they have money, position, but they are nobodies and when called upon for public speaking opportunities, all they can do is look foolish, blush, stammer out an apology and sit back down.

You can learn, give it a chance, you might like it!
