It's small atmosphere that just seats 30, allows for the bistro guests to dine in a quiet, dim, romantic atmosphere. All guests can see the sole chef, Eric Howton cook up his flavorful masterpieces.
I first got to experience Effie Ophelia's amazing dining experience on New Year's Eve 2008. Effie's was one of the few restaurants that had openings left, and their BYOB (bring your own bottle) policy allowed my friend and I to bring some of our favorite wines to compliment dinner.
As to why Effie Ophelia's still had an opening, I'll never know. The food was absolutely fantastic. The fresh bread from the oven served with a seasoned olive oil spread was delectable with a fine hearty crust. My dinner of seafood served in a tomato fennel broth was flavorful, yet not overcompensating. The seafood was tender, not too chewy, and the strong fennel tone brought a whole new aura to my dinner palate.
I have since visited Effie Ophelia's a second time, and this time I was even more pleased. Their menu varies from season to season always offering fresh local ingredients in a great atmosphere.
Starting June 14, 2009, the restaurant will being offering a summer brunch with an amazing selection of finely tuned dishes all for under $14.00. Bring your own bottle of champagne for a corking fee of $5.00 and you can have an exquisite champagne brunch. Brunch will run from 10-2 all summer long.
Effie Ophelia's is open from 5-10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday including the upcoming Summer Brunch hours. No reservations are accepted, but you can choose their call ahead seating. Be aware that they will not allow parties over 6 people due to the small intimate atmosphere. For more information visit them at http://www.effieophelia.com or call them for their latest seasonal menu and information.
