If you love running then chances are you have experienced the "runner's high". This is the feeling of euphoria due to the release of the happy hormones in your body called endorphins. When you experience the runner's high, you feel that you are really taking care of your body, heart and mind. And even if the feeling is fleeting, you still love getting it. But what if there is a way to extend the feeling you get during a runner's high? And a way to deepen it indefinitely for a more satisfying experience of joy? Would you go for it? Well, a lot of people do and they use a combination of exercise, meditation, and yoga to achieve this.

It is nice to note that running is not the only exercise which can give you this feeling. In fact, any vigorous exercise triggers the release of endorphins. What running has to offer over the other discipline is that it is very convenient to do. You just have to slip on some running shoes and get out of the door. It is also an exercise which can be done at any time. Trail running, for example, allows you to get in touch with nature and thus giving a more fulfilling experience. All types of exercise can improve whatever condition you may have. It also will result to a positive effect on your overall health.

Yoga has become popular over the years and the understanding of the practice goes beyond the physical postures the discipline has. Originally, yoga was practiced to develop the body for total spiritual growth. Over time, it has been found that the practice of yoga has several positive impacts on other physical exercises. It allows the creation of energy which allows you to enjoy any vigorous exercise better.

Meditation, as a part of yoga, can be thought of as an exercise for the mind. Usually when the term exercise is used, it refers to physical exercise of the body. But it is also important to exercise the mind although it can be really vague when compared to exercising your body. You might ask questions like, if I exercise my mind for 30 minutes the right away, will it get stronger? The answer to this is yes. Some experts even claim that the effects last longer than physical exercise. Know that the body will eventually deteriorate over time but the mind will continue taking in more ideas as it gets older. What more when an exercise program is used to strengthen it - and you can get this with yoga.
