Providing light refreshments at auction events is an extra benefit that creates a relaxed atmosphere. Refreshments can help to keep guests alert during scheduled auctions that last for hours. Hire someone to cater the auction, preventing other staff members from taking on too many responsibilities. This auction staffing option does not have to be obtained using professional catering companies, especially for events operating on low budgets. Select a caterer who can prepare food or purchase the right items from a store. The auction staff member will be responsible for organizing how food will be served and maintaining a sanitary environment.

Select Auction Entertainment
It is always helpful to have a disc jockey or music band that can entertain guests before the auction begins. There can also be a special portion of the event set aside for entertainment while guests are enjoying their refreshments and socializing. Entertainment can also be a distraction depending on how this staffing option is setup. Make sure that loud music is not being played during any bidding activities or the auctioneer speeches. Hire a messenger or supply runner to buy, pickup and deliver auction supplies to the event location or main office handling the fundraiser. Messengers are useful auction staffing options that can reduce the amount of work needed to be done by an auction coordinator. If hired, these auction staff members should be given a list of the supplies that needs to be ordered or borrowed prior to the event. He or she can also help with the task of hiring other auction staff members.
