Extra Small Condoms Now Available for Preteens... Swiss Company Targets 12-14 Year Olds with Hotshot Teen Sized Prophylactics

File this article under "What is this world coming to, and what is happening to our kids." Bang your head against the wall and lock up your tweens. Like it or not, some preteen boys, (12-14 year olds) are already having sex, putting them at risk for STDs, HIV and impregnating their partners.

If you are wondering how and when to talk to your preteen boy about sex, it's probably already too late. Music, movies and classmates are teaching him every day. He probably already knows about sex acts, contraception and what he can catch.

A basic rule of when to have that talk with your son, is to pick an age and subtract 3 years. You might be fortunate and get to him before someone else does.

A government study in Switzerland showed that more and more young boys are having sex. The study also showed that young boys have more of a tendency not to protect themselves and do not understand the consequences of what they are doing.

Although the age of consent in Switzerland is 16, sex between consenting minors is perfectly legal as long as they are not more than 3 years apart in age. Birth control for those sexually active teenagers makes sense,

Based on these facts, a Swiss manufacturing company has come up with a new product called Hotshots. They are described as Teen Sized, rather than Extra Small. A six- pack of Hotshots sells for $7.

At the moment, the Swiss company has no plans to sell Hotshots in the United States which has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the world. But who knows what the future holds. President Obama while campaigning, referred that teens engaging in sex could be "punished with a baby."

The United States Center of Disease Control estimates that one half of all HIV infections occur in the under 24 age group. HIV is the sixth leading cause of death in ages 15-24.

Three million cases of STD's occur in that age group and up to one million teens get pregnant each year.

The CDC believes that it is critical to reach young boys with information... either to delay first intercourse, or to increase condom use among those teens who are already sexually active.

Not sure about this...it may good for them to at least give them access to condoms, but may be encouraging? Interesting.

Insane! I have a real problem with this. I would be locking my tween daughter and son up for sure.

Rather be safe than sorry. We put a lot of pressure on our kids to grow up and when they do we don't prepare them for what comes with adulthood, and there are some older guys that probably could use the small size too, :)

What a world. Condoms for preteens.

this is interesting but ya know I would rather the teen/preteen who is going to indulge use protection than to say they could not find a condom to fit. Just my take on it all.
