Extracting Knowledge for Article Power

Anyone Can Write with the Proper Incentive

Harold Dean Sink
Over the past few recent years many of us have turned to making money online. One of the most noticeable differences on the internet is the mass amounts of forums popping up along with rouge writers springing up all over the place. More than likely, these writers may or may not have degrees in writing. This is not so much a problem but can lead to ...burnout.

With so many topics for writers to choose from, sticking with one topic could seem to dry up eventually. The trick to writing is to stay on the subject. Making money online with writing can be lucrative, but keeping that steady income may not. Learning the tricks to writing online is an ongoing process.

The best way to start writing for places like Slashdot, Helium, Associated Content, Green Thumb Articles, and others is to sit back and think about what you are most knowledgeable at. Let's say you keep up on soccer more so than the average person. You can name all the players on all the teams, professional or non-professional. That in itself is quite an oil mind of writing material.

You could write biographies of all the players, and then turn around and write their stats in article form going through each player again. Just think about how many articles that will generate. Next you could write about which teams they have been on, who has crossed who's path in their soccer journey and so on.

The ideas are endless when you really think about it. Okay, so you don't want to write about soccer. You could write about your passion for movies. Write your own reviews. Maybe there are movies that your friends have not seen yet that you think they should. Tell them, "Hey, I just read this review online about (the movie), you might like to read it." Won't your friends be shocked when they see that you wrote the review?

You can write mini bios of your favorite actresses and actors. No? Do you like to cook? Share your favorite recipes or tricks to getting supper ready in a hurry for your family. Maybe you are the connoisseur of non-cook meals because you are on the go so much. That is something to share with readers.

Once you have your niche, you can go for the gusto. You will find along the way that you need to break up information in an article you are writing because it would be a good article on its own. That is perfectly fine. Superfluous information may not be what is needed to get your point across.

Say you are writing an article on Obama's stimulus package and start writing about how it will arrive after you have filed your taxes. That last part could be an article all on its own. Being careful about what you include in an article can lead to more.

There are some writers who write about comic books in different ways. Some write reviews while others may write about how they affect our children. Then others could write about how they have gone from being so cutsie to downright vulgar. The ideas can go on and on.

Whether you are in a slump or not, it is always a good idea to keep notes. A pad of paper and pencil or pen handy at all times is a good idea. You may have a Dictaphone which is also good to keep around. You may be the handheld device person who knows how to keep track of all that information and organized to the hilt. The new Blackberry phones have all the tools you need in one device.

Then again, maybe you don't think you are much of a writer, and are afraid of what others may think. Maybe you should check out what some of the people on the internet are writing these days. There are a slew of articles out there published with grammatical errors and misspellings that it would make you wonder if those writers really were paid for them.

Think about this. You are the only one holding you back from writing. You don't have to become a 'writer' persey, at least enough of one to be writing for magazines, newspapers, or that novel you may secretly want to publish. Create a pseudonym and write to your hearts delight. Nobody will ever know who you are except for those paying you.
