Extraordinary Measures Will Show Brendan Fraser's Serious Acting Side

On January 22, 2010, a drama called Extraordinary Measures will hit theaters nationwide. The movie will star Brendan Fraser, Harrison Ford, and Keri Russell. Brendan Fraser will star as John Crowley and Kerri Russell will play Aileen Crowley. The Crowley's are in search of a researcher that can help find a cure for their children's' rare genetic disorder. Harrison Ford's character, Dr. Robert Stonehill, will play a very important part in the Crowley's hunt for a cure. This is all I will tell about the movie for now because I do not want to ruin the surprise element for anyone (or myself for that matter). All I can say is that I think this will be a great movie. I mean, any movie starring Brendan Fraser and Harrison Ford will probably please the crowds.

What is significant about this movie is that it is Brendan Fraser's first time acting in a real 'serious' drama (at least from what I've seen). Normally he is acting in movies that are action packed and adventurous. This movie gives Fraser a chance to show a different side to him. Also, he will have the chance to show people that he is an actor that can play in almost any movie genre.

Brendan Fraser was born in December 1968 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He moved around a lot as a child because he father was a travel executive. He began acting in small movie parts in the early 1990's, but he had his first significant acting role in 1997 when he had the lead role in George of the Jungle. I have to admit that he was hilarious in that movie. Some of his facial expressions and body movements made me laugh hysterically. It was a great movie for kids. This was the movie that put Fraser on the board.

In 1999, Fraser starred in a real blockbuster action and adventure movie called The Mummy. He played Rick O' Connell, an American soldier who unknowingly found the City of the Dead known as Hamunaptra (in Egypt). A few years after first stumbling upon the buried city, he teams up with a beautiful librarian (played by Rachel Weisz) and her brother to set out to explore Hamunaptra to find certain treasures. There are two teams, including O' Connell's. Things go horribly wrong as a curse is released and things go awry. This was a great adventure/action movie which showed off Fraser's real talents.

A year after starring in The Mummy, Fraser continued to show his star power. He acted in the remake of Bedazzled in 2000 (a really funny movie in which he sells his soul to the devil (played by Elizabeth Hurley) so that he can be with the woman of his dreams. This movie was a part of a string of movies that proved his comic abilities to the world.

In 2001, Fraser starred in The Mummy Returns which turned out to be a great sequel to the first movie. In 2008, Fraser starred with the young actor Josh Hutcherson in the adventure movie Journey to the Center of the Earth. Fraser played a more serious part in this movie. He played the part of a professor who went in search of his brother after he disappeared when he tried to find a way to the center of the earth. This was another great action/adventure movie and it showed that Fraser could successfully act in a more serious part.

Now here we are nearly 13 years after Fraser's first real hit movie and he is now about to embark in a different direction with his acting. I have had the pleasure of watching his acting career evolve over the last decade and I have been very impressed with what I have seen thus far. There is no doubt in my mind that he will impress audiences with his performance in the upcoming drama Extraordinary Measures. I am opened to the idea of seeing Fraser act in something other than an action or adventure movie. Fraser is a very dynamic actor and this shows in his excellent acting abilities.
