Extreme Makeover Home Edition Coming to Florida's Space Coast!

If you live along the Space Coast and haven't heard the news, let me fill you in! Extreme Makeover Home Edition is coming to Brevard County! Though no one yet knows the exact home that has been chosen, that will quickly change. A deserving family -- in my very own community -- will soon be getting a loud wake-up call from Ty Pennington transforming not only their home, but likely their lives, and the lives of countless others in the process.

When my wife first called and alerted me to news that Extreme Makeover was coming to the area, I remember thinking, "Oh. That's neat." But she had more. Turns out she'd been alerted that EMHE and Lifestyle Homes were looking for volunteers for the build. "I think we should volunteer," she said excitedly. I was surprised at that. Work on the actual house? "Think about it," she said. Well, I did. Prayed too. And the more that the idea bounced around in my head, the more that I sensed that 'God Nudge' to say "Yes" and sign up.

Can you guess where my sweetheart and I will be this coming Monday night?

Extreme Makeover Pep Rally - Kennedy Space Center - Monday night

To kick off the build, a Pep Rally will be held at Kennedy Space Center's Visitor Complex (at the Rocket Garden) on Monday, January 3rd, 2011 at 7pm. The Senior Producer of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Milan Vasic, will be sharing a special outdoor video presentation highlighting some of the shows most emotional and heart-warming moments from the past 8 years. If you decide to go, they recommend bringing blankets and/or folding chairs since seating is limited. Oh, and tissues. Since I rarely make it through a show without tears, tissues are a given.

There will also be a chance to meet the team with Lifestyle Homes. Key members who are helping to make this all happen will be introduced and bring us up to speed on the latest developments.

Extreme Makeover Press Conference Video

Just this morning I gained some more information via Lifestyle Homes Facebook page. Turns out they've filmed part of a press conference for the Extreme Makeover event soon to take place somewhere along the Space Coast's Brevard County. ( Watch Video )

Care to guess what build number Brevard County's home will be? According to the video, EMHE's Space Coast's Build will be number 186 or 187. That number astounds me. They've been one busy bunch!

How Long Will It All Take?

According to the press conference, from the time that the family is notified, till the time that the keys are handed over, 106 hours of construction time will have taken place.

"What will you do on the 107^th hour?" the interviewer asks the two LifeStyle representatives.

"Uh... Sleep," says one.

"And there will be a wrap party," the other chimes in.

Ah, yes. Partying. I'm sure they won't be the only one's doing that.
